I started the year focused on developing my painting; now, with the lovely big home studio as well as my space in Kingston. I spent most of my time working in the studio at home this year, which was really convenient when you have two dogs and who look at you mournfully every time you leave the house.

May and June were busy months. I was accepted into my first artist art fair at The Landmark Arts Centre Spring Art Fair, 20-21 May 2017. It was well attended and I had over 130 visitors stop by the stand throughout the weekend. Thank you to those of you who came and supported me.

I was very excited to be shortlisted and exhibit at Gallery Elena Shchukina, Mayfair in the Project 2017: Change & Transformation exhibition, 25 May until 3 June 2017. It is an attractive gallery in an exclusive part of London and I felt privileged to be exhibiting there with so many other talented artists.

The annual Kingston Artists Studio was held during the weekends of 10 & 11 and 17 & 18 June 2017. We had record numbers through our doors and lots of new artists in our building who were participating in the event. I had a very successful first weekend and sold quite a lot of work from my PreCursor series. The following weekend was quieter due to the heatwave we experienced.

During the summer, I was fortunate enough to be featured in the House & Garden magazine in the July, August and September issues.

In September, I was selected to participate in two exhibitions. The first was the Merton Arts Festival 16-23 September 2017 and exhibited Alignments I and II in the Reflection & Transformation exhibition at the Merton Arts Space, Wimbledon Library.

The second was the artWEEK Exhibition in support of Central London Samaritans, at two London Virgin Money Lounges in Piccadilly Circus, 18-23 September. I exhibited work from my PreCursor series at both venues. The Private View was a great evening of art, a moving speech from Central London Samaritans and music by some very talented singer-songwriters.

My plan for next year is to go bigger! I have already started prepping the larger canvasses with the base colour. I am curious about where this will take my paintings in the future. I can only say – watch this space!

Here’s wishing you all the best for 2018.
